Kelly Bugler

Biography

I am Plains Cree from Red Pheasant First Nation in Treaty 6 territory, Saskatchewan. I am honoured to practice law on Treaty 7 territory, the traditional lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations), the Tsuut’ina Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda Nations, as well as the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a Concentration in Indigenous Justice and Criminology, and I obtained my Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan in 2024. I articled with Calgary Legal Guidance and joined the Family Law Program shortly after being called to the bar in June 2025.

Through this work, I provided pro-bono summary advice on parenting and protection orders, with a particular focus on family violence. This work has been particularly meaningful, allowing me to stand alongside clients during some of the most difficult times in their lives. It has enhanced my ability to manage high-stress situations, advocate effectively, and offer guidance that is both clear and empathetic.

Serving the public is central to my practice, and I am committed to continuing this work at Mincher Koeman. I am dedicated to helping clients navigate difficult legal challenges with confidence and support. The legal system can feel overwhelming, but with the right advocate walking beside you, it can also be empowering.

As a first-generation lawyer, I understand the realities of building a path toward stability and security. I draw on my lived experience to approach each client with openness and respect, ensuring they feel heard, supported, and informed. I am committed to equipping my clients with the tools to understand their rights, protect themselves and their families, and move forward with strength.

Outside of my legal practice, I remain grounded in my culture and prioritize my well-being. I value building strong connections within the Calgary community
