Biography

Akshita Rishi brings a rich and diverse international legal background, paired with a deeply client-centered approach. With approximately 1.5 years of Canadian legal experience and over 3 years of litigation experience in India, Akshita focuses her practice in Family Law,offering clients a thoughtful, strategic, and compassionate path through some of life’s most complex legal challenges.

Akshita began her legal journey in India, earning an Honours undergraduate degree and completing her law degree with First Class. She also holds the Intermediate Company Secretary (Intermediate CS) designation, which has equipped her with a strong foundation in corporate legal practice. In New Delhi, she honed her skills in high-conflict corporate litigation, gaining extensive courtroom experience and a strong command of both procedural and substantive legal matters.

Since relocating to Canada in February 2023, Akshita has swiftly navigated the transition into the Canadian legal system—successfully completing her NCA qualifications, Alberta Bar – CPLED program, and gaining hands-on legal experience through articling in Family Law, Real Estate, and Wills and Estates as well as through various volunteer roles. It was during this period that she discovered her passion for Family Law, where she now represents clients in a wide array of matters, including parenting, separation, divorce, spousal support, child support, and asset distribution disputes.

Akshita is also experienced in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes and applies a holistic, pragmatic approach to every file. Drawing on her broad legal knowledge, she considers all facets of a client’s legal and personal situation. Known as a relentless advocate, she is deeply committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients while maintaining integrity, clarity, and empathy throughout her practice.

Beyond her legal work, Akshita actively contributes to the legal community. She serves as a mentor with the Calgary Region Immigrant Employment Council (CRIEC), guiding internationally trained legal professionals and students aspiring to build legal careers in Canada.

Fluent in both English and Hindi, Akshita bridges cultural and linguistic gaps with ease, making her a trusted advisor to a diverse clientele. In her free time, she enjoys exploring topics related to interior design, one of her personal passions.
