Undergraduate LL.B with Honours in Legal Practicioner’s Course
Troy Atkin is a Student-at-Law with Mincher Koeman, set to qualify as a lawyer in Alberta in July 2025. He was previously admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales in 2023, bringing international experience and a strong litigation background to his practice.
Troy holds an undergraduate LL.B with Honours, a postgraduate degree in the Legal Practitioners Course, and a master’s degree in business, law, and management from the University of Law. Before relocating to Canada, he trained with a Tier 1 Top 40 national litigation firm and an award-winning multi-regional firm, gaining significant experience in high-conflict and complex litigation matters.
After moving to Canada, he successfully completed the NCA process, passing all six exams within three months, and recently completed the CPLED Capstone.
Troy is confident in accepting instructions in all aspects of Family Law litigation as well as Civil and Commercial Litigation. He has successfully appeared before the Court of King’s Bench and the Provincial Court of Alberta on numerous occasions. A determined and strategic litigator, Troy thrives in high conflict matters, advocating relentlessly for his clients and standing up to unfairness. He views it as a privilege to help clients during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, approaching each case with compassion, practical focus, and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcome.
Outside of law, Troy is an international powerlifting champion, having won a gold medal for England at the 2022 Powerlifting Commonwealth Games and earning selection for Team Canada. He is also a passionate legal commentator, appearing on platforms including Thomson Reuters, Legally Speaking, Crafty Counsel, and Legal Cheek, with over 30,000 followers worldwide. Troy attributes his success to the unwavering support of his wife, Marie, their two boys, and their beloved dogs, King Greg and Duke Eugene.
