Becky Sanda

Biography

Becky Sanda is a dual-qualified lawyer, licensed to practise law in both Nigeria and Alberta, Canada. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2012 and to the Canadian Bar in 2025, bringing over 13 years of international legal experience to her Family Law practice.

Becky holds an LLB (Hons.) from the University of Warwick, UK, and a Master’s degree in Dispute Resolution and Conflict Managementfrom SOAS, University of London. She is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and a member of the Alberta Family Mediation Society (AFMS). She also holds a Diploma in Human Rights from Florida State University, Tallahassee.

She began her legal career at the International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute in the UK. Prior to relocating to Canada, Becky served as a State Counsel at the National Industrial Court of Nigeria—the country’s exclusive court for labour and employment matters—where she gained significant experience handling complex litigation, including cases involving human rights violations, wrongful dismissals, and workplace disputes.

This background has greatly informed her approach to Family Law, where she now applies her litigation experience and dispute resolution expertise to help families navigate challenging circumstances. Becky has successfully represented clients before both the Court of Justiceand the Court of King’s Bench on matters involving divorce, parenting, spousal and child support.

As a trained mediator and arbitrator, Becky is highly skilled in helping families resolve disputes amicably and constructively, prioritizing outcomes that support long-term stability and well-being. She is particularly passionate about empowering families to strategize and develop actionable plans during times of conflict. While she emphasizes resolution outside of court where possible, she also recognizes that litigation is sometimes necessary—especially where power imbalances exist—and is a strong advocate for protecting her clients’ rights and interests.

Throughout her career, Becky has remained committed to delivering cost-effective, client-focused legal solutions with empathy and professionalism.

Outside the law, Becky is a natural skincare enthusiast. She enjoys creating handcrafted soaps and body care products, finding joy and creative expression through her passion for wellness and artistry.
