I rely on my experience and knowledge in business and tax matters to assist clients in obtaining a resolution in the most effective way.

Marty was born and raised on a farm in Montana. He achieved his dream of playing basketball at Montana State University Billings where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Relations in 2011 and a Master of Science Degree in Sport and Athletic Leadership in 2012.

Upon immigrating to Canada, Marty moved to Calgary to attend law school at the University of Calgary in 2015, and earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2018. Marty articled with a top international accounting firm in Calgary, where he gained experience working in corporate law and corporate immigration law. Marty was called to the Alberta Bar in June 2019.

Marty joined Mincher Koeman LLP in August 2019 and hit the ground running. His competitive nature has served him well in advocating for clients on family law matters in the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta.

Marty practices in the area of family law and has gained significant experience in a wide variety of areas within the family law field. Marty has experience in preparing Separation Agreements, performing child support calculations, the division of matrimonial property, defending clients in Emergency Protection Order review hearings and matters involving Child and Family Services. Marty has shown to excel in matters involving high-conflict parenting. High-conflict parenting matters can be extremely difficult for both parents and can often lead to extensive legal costs without a resolution. Marty’s ability to assist clients in navigating the difficult and emotional complexities while achieving a resolution in a timely manner provides his clients with a positive solution while keeping legal costs to a minimum.

In addition to Family Law matters, Marty is the firm’s leading expert on Wills and Estates. Marty assists clients in all areas starting with the drafting of wills, codicils, enduring power of attorneys, personal directives as well as estate litigation. Marty provides guidance and support to clients in matters involving wills disputes, guardianship and capacity disputes, elder law and Trustee/Executor Disputes.

While not assisting clients, Marty enjoys spending time with his wife and baby daughter and visiting his family in Montana. Marty is active in the community and can be seen courtside on Friday and Saturday nights as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach for the SAIT Trojans.
