I graduated from Dalhousie University with a Juris Doctor in 2013. As a student, I developed litigation and advocacy experience working with multiple organizations. I interned in public policy at the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association, where I assisted staff lawyers with legal research and public education programming. I also worked at the Dalhousie Legal Aid Clinic, gaining litigation experience while serving and representing members of the local community.
I completed my articles at Calgary Legal Guidance, where I represented clients in criminal, family, and immigration litigation matters.
Following my call to the Bar, I worked as an associate at an established criminal defence firm based in Calgary, where I regularly represented clients in trials, bail hearings, and sentencing hearings. I also worked with senior counsel on highly complex criminal matters by conducting legal research and assisting with preparation for multi-week trials.
In 2016, I opened my own criminal defence practice in association with a prominent criminal defence firm in Calgary. As a sole practitioner, I defended clients against a wide range of criminal charges and regularly conducted highly contested trials, bail and sentencing hearings, and appeals. I have considerable experience appearing before multiple levels of court, including the Provincial Court, the Court of Queen’s Bench, and the Court of Appeal of Alberta. Several of my successful trial matters have been published and received media attention.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking and cycling. I also have a great passion for music, and enjoy playing guitar, bass, and have recently taken up piano.
